A Lifestyle of Independence

A Lifestyle of Independence

|

When thinking about a move to senior living, some people worry about losing their independence. At The Blake at Lafayette, we want residents to feel like themselves and do the things they love, all while getting the help they need. Safety is of course a top priority for The Blake at Lafayette, but it is equally important for our residents to maintain their independence and autonomy as much as possible. Here are a few ways in which The Blake at Lafayette strives to maintain this balance.

One way in which we promote safety at The Blake at Lafayette is through our professional team of caregivers. Living at The Blake is like having a friend you can call whenever you need a hand. Whether it’s a little help with something or just knowing someone’s there, we’ve got you covered. You can always rest assured that our professional team is always nearby, ready to provide any level of assistance needed. Additionally, each resident is issued a state-of-the-art pendant, that allows them to ask for assistance when needed, yet provides them the space and peace of mind to live independently when they don’t need the additional assistance.

While one of our main priorities at The Blake at Lafayette is your safety, we also believe it’s essential for you to have a say in what you do every day. At The Blake, we provide ample opportunities for socialization, including a variety of activities, outings, and events for you to choose from. Whether you’re into arts & crafts, exercise classes, or going on outings, the choice is yours. We want you to feel happy and fulfilled doing things you enjoy. And if you ever have new ideas about how we can make things even better, we’re all ears! Our Resident Council is a group where you can share your thoughts and suggestions with fellow residents. We believe that your voice matters, and we want to make sure that this community feels like home to you. Encouraging autonomy in daily decisions, such as making choices about your schedule, meals, and activities you partake in, also allows you to help maintain your sense of freedom.

Other ways in which we maintain your independence is through encouraging exercise and physical activity. Regular exercise and physical activity can help maintain overall health and well-being and can also help promote independence by increasing strength, flexibility, and balance. At The Blake at Lafayette, we offer various exercise opportunities such as a walking club, chair yoga, Zumba, and more! We aim to make our exercise classes engaging and accessible to everyone by offering different modifications if needed.

Here at The Blake at Lafayette, we’re all about making sure you feel independent and free to live life on your terms. You deserve to be happy and comfortable, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
